Food That Supports Natural Balance

At Plantation Villa, we believe food is the foundation of health. Our meals are more than just sustenance; they are a vital part of your healing. Every dish is designed with a deep understanding of how nourishment affects your body and mind, helping you return to a state of natural balance.

What is Nutrition? In Ayurveda, nourishment is about more than just ingredients.

How your food is prepared, when you eat, and how well you digest all play a role in your wellbeing.

We follow the principle that food should never disturb your internal balance. By considering your specific constitution and digestive strength, we use meals to nourish you in a harmonious way. This approach steadies your energy and creates a deeper sense of wellbeing through simple, mindful nourishment.

Our approach Our menus are designed by Ayurvedic doctors drawing on traditional principles like seasonal eating and the medicinal use of spices.

Whether in the UK or Sri Lanka, we consider the local climate to ensure each meal is purposeful and supportive. Wherever possible, we source ingredients from our own organic gardens to maintain a close connection to nature.

All meals are freshly prepared daily to aid your digestion and nutrient absorption, helping your body settle into a relaxed, balanced state.

Our food is:

  • Simple and balanced
  • Vegetarian and Gluten-free
  • Free from refined sugars, additives, preservatives and seed oils
  • Gently seasoned with Ayurvedic spices

Meals in Sri Lanka

We draw on the island’s rich biodiversity, using fresh and nourishing tropical fruits, vegetables, and medicinal greens. These ingredients are used to create traditional Sri Lankan dishes, thoughtfully adapted to suit your dietary needs while maintaining their authentic character.

Meals in the UK

Our UK meals are prepared with the seasons and local climate in mind. Using fresh, local ingredients, we create dishes inspired by Ayurvedic principles—whether traditional recipes or familiar meals gently adapted to support your digestion and balance.

Explore Packages Conscious eating and nutrition is integral to every programme we offer.

We plan your meals to complement your treatments and the daily rhythm of your stay.

We also prioritise ethical practices. By using produce from our own organic gardens and local growers, we ensure your nourishment supports not only your wellbeing but also the health of the land and the communities around us.

Our 6 Pillars

We believe our health, wellbeing and environment are all interconnected. Driven by kindness and inspired by ancestral roots and indigenous practices, our philosophy links together these six pillars, not just through the heart, body and mind but also through community, earth and spirit.

Heart

Heart

Emotional wellbeing must be the very start of every journey. We begin with loving kindness, understanding that good health is much more than just the body. Using our safe and loving environment you will have the space to reflect on how you deal with emotions. Inspired by Buddhist teachings, our serene sanctuary helps you find the tools for inner peace, uplifted balance and soulful transformation.

Mind

Mind

Any change in the body causes an effect on our thinking; to reshape our overall wellbeing, we must therefore also take care of our minds. Ayurveda offers medicinal remedies while yoga, meditation, wisdom talks, a calming environment and the company of empaths combine to soothe and sharpen our life views.

Body

Body

Nutrition, lifestyle and sleep are needed for a healthy body. We focus on fresh, organic food prepared by our Ayurvedic doctors using Ayurveda principles. Regular yoga helps our internal systems function better; paired with calm evenings and tranquil environments, sleep is improved, too.

Community

Community

We are not just a retreat but a social enterprise that funds our own charity, The Metta Trust alongside UK mental health organisations. We believe that Plantation Villa belongs to all, and our communities are a vital part of our philosophy, from the Sri Lankan staff and school children we support to the local community that surround our Herefordshire retreat.

Earth

Earth

Inner journeys begin by connecting not just with people, but with animals and nature, each depending on the other. We know that a natural environment supports good mental and physical health and our commitment helps protect nature through careful reforestation and preservation of wildlife.

Spirit

Spirit

Spirituality is the conclusion of our path, the lived experience of unity where meaning, truth and the self become one, leading to a lasting sense of fulfillment. By keeping the mind calm, the body healthy and the self connected to nature, we can shape the meaning we give to life.
