A Space for Inner Stillness and Compassion
Daily Meditation and Chanting
Meditation is a central part of Buddhist practice and an important element of life at the retreat.
Each day, guests are invited to participate in guided meditation sessions, where we practice simple methods such as breath meditation, focusing attention gently on the natural rhythm of breathing. This practice helps cultivate calmness, concentration, and greater awareness of the mind.
We also practice daily chanting, which in many Buddhist traditions is considered another form of meditation. Chanting helps steady the mind, deepen concentration, and create a shared sense of harmony within the group. Even for those new to chanting, the rhythm and repetition often bring a sense of peace and grounding.
These practices are offered gently and without pressure, allowing each person to participate in a way that feels comfortable.
Yoga, Mindfulness, and Daily Practice
Each day also includes yoga and meditation classes, designed to support both physical and mental wellbeing.
Yoga helps the body release tension and cultivate balance, while meditation supports mental clarity and emotional stability. Together, these practices encourage a deeper connection between body and mind.
Beyond formal sessions, guests are invited to practice mindfulness throughout the day—whether during meals, walks in nature, or quiet moments of reflection. These simple practices help bring attention back to the present moment and reduce the mental distractions that often dominate modern life.
Compassion in Action
In Buddhism, meditation and ethical living are closely connected. The cultivation of compassion is not limited to meditation alone—it is expressed through our actions and how we care for others.
At our retreat, we place great importance on kindness, community, and responsibility toward the natural world.
We actively care for the environment around us by supporting reforestation and the protection of local wilderness. We also help stray animals and support animal welfare charities, reflecting the Buddhist principle of compassion for all living beings.
These efforts are part of our commitment to living in harmony with nature and supporting the wellbeing of the wider community.
Supporting Communities Through The Metta Trust
A central part of our retreat’s mission is our charitable work through The Metta Trust, our own non-profit initiative.
Between 70% and 80% of the retreat’s profits are directed toward this charity, allowing the retreat to contribute directly to the wellbeing of surrounding communities.
Through The Metta Trust, we support initiatives such as:
We also support local social committees and community gatherings, helping organise events and celebrations—such as New Year and Christmas activities—that bring people together and strengthen social bonds.
Through these initiatives, we aim to create not only a place of personal healing, but also a space that uplifts and supports the wider community.
A Practice That Extends Beyond the Retreat
The Buddhist practices shared at the retreat are not intended to remain only within the retreat setting. Instead, they offer simple tools that guests can carry into daily life.
Meditation, mindfulness, kindness, and ethical living are practices that gradually shape the way we relate to ourselves, to others, and to the world around us.
In this way, the retreat becomes more than a place of rest—it becomes an invitation to cultivate awareness, compassion, and meaningful connection, both during the retreat and long after returning home.
