Built on the foundations of our founder Ishara’s journey through ill health, both our UK and Sri Lanka retreats are tranquil havens where real transformation takes place. Offering a welcoming and holistic setting for healing to begin, our retreats are immersed in soothing nature and grounded in authentic livelihoods.

Our teams in both the UK and Sri Lanka are made up of experienced professionals who are experts in their fields of Ayurveda, yoga, meditation and Buddhist teachings.
Qualified Ayurvedic doctors provide consultations and treatments while therapists, teachers, counsellors and monks offer their deep-seated knowledge to nurture each and every guest.

Our philosophy is rooted in the idea of caring for all – from our guests and the local communities we inhabit to the land around us – supporting one another with kindness.
This interconnected belief is a guiding principle that extends into our charity The Metta Trust, which channels funds into local communities, schools, reforestation projects, wildlife conservation and healthcare.

Your time with us doesn’t end when your retreat is over. We continue to be here for you, offering ongoing support and guidance on your wellbeing journey for as long as you need it. In addition to our lifetime personal support, our programs provide a framework for a lifetime of good health and deep spirituality.
We teach you how to continue your healing at home with the practices you’ve learnt, and our guests continue to reach out to us to tell us all about their journeys.

We believe our health, wellbeing and environment are all interconnected. Driven by kindness and inspired by ancestral roots and indigenous practices, our philosophy links together these six pillars, not just through the heart, body and mind but also through community, earth and spirit.
Emotional wellbeing must be the very start of every journey. We begin with loving kindness, understanding that good health is much more than just the body. Using our safe and loving environment you will have the space to reflect on how you deal with emotions. Inspired by Buddhist teachings, our serene sanctuary helps you find the tools for inner peace, uplifted balance and soulful transformation.
Any change in the body causes an effect on our thinking; to reshape our overall wellbeing, we must therefore also take care of our minds. Ayurveda offers medicinal remedies while yoga, meditation, wisdom talks, a calming environment and the company of empaths combine to soothe and sharpen our life views.
Nutrition, lifestyle and sleep are needed for a healthy body. We focus on fresh, organic food prepared by our Ayurvedic doctors using Ayurveda principles. Regular yoga helps our internal systems function better; paired with calm evenings and tranquil environments, sleep is improved, too.
We are not just a retreat but a social enterprise that funds our own charity, The Metta Trust alongside UK mental health organisations. We believe that Plantation Villa belongs to all, and our communities are a vital part of our philosophy, from the Sri Lankan staff and school children we support to the local community that surround our Herefordshire retreat.
Inner journeys begin by connecting not just with people, but with animals and nature, each depending on the other. We know that a natural environment supports good mental and physical health and our commitment helps protect nature through careful reforestation and preservation of wildlife.
Spirituality is the conclusion of our path, the lived experience of unity where meaning, truth and the self become one, leading to a lasting sense of fulfillment. By keeping the mind calm, the body healthy and the self connected to nature, we can shape the meaning we give to life.
